Rudy Galindo
started skating at age eight as a single skater. He won the 1987 Junior World
Championships. Later he teamed up with Kristi Yamaguchi and started pairs figure skating.
Both won the 1989 and 1990 U.S. pairs titles. After Kristi quit pairs figure skating to
concentrate on her career as single skater (she became 1992 Olympic Champion) Rudy Galindo
returned to singles skating in 1991. After fife very hard years of permanently fighting
against personal and financial obstacles he won the U.S. National Championships in his
home town San Jose in 1996. He placed third in the World Championships the same year.
On September 10, 1996 he turned pro. |
