Lesley started
skating at age 9 and skated for a long time as a single skater.
Michael also started skating at the age of 9
and was a speed skater for the
first 18 months. Then he changed to pair figure skating and skated with Jill Thay, Dawn
Roads and Catherine Barker before he met Lesley.
Lesley and Michael skated for the first time
together in January 1993 for
the Blackpool Ice Show. They toured with the show and spended eight months in Germany, and
at Europapark Rust. They decided to return to amateur pair competitions in the 1993/94
season and were the best pair competing for Great Britain at that time.
Lesley and Michael became the first British
pair to land triple jumps in a
short program (at World Championships 1995).
Lesley Rogers and Michael Aldred split in
1998. Michael Aldred has continued his pairs figure skating career with Sarah Kemp. |
